Rank I in Special Education

The Graduate Studies program at Union College offers students the ability to build upon their education at the Masters level by pursuing a Rank I program. Our Rank I programs allow students the chance to explore many areas in P-12 education and curriculum and instruction. These areas include special education, reading and writing, supervisor of instruction, and educational leadership/principalship.

The coursework for the Rank I program in Special Education focuses on the development and understanding of the teaching profession, the diversity of learners, and effective special education teaching practices. Students will graduate with a working knowledge of special education issues and teaching strategies appropriate for specific grades. Graduates of this blended program are prepared to meet the needs of specific students by providing direct classroom instruction, collaboration, and consultation.

Graduates who desire to teach in a different state must fulfill the requirements in that state and may obtain information on doing so at Union College's Career Planning and Placement Office.
