Endorsement in Special Education
Blue Mountain College was founded in 1873 with a mission to provide both liberal arts and vocation-based education. Its Endorsement in Special Education online program is a continuation of that original inspiration, extending the institution's pedagogic reach beyond a physical campus.
Program Benefits
Skills - Blue Mountain College offers this online Endorsement in Special Education to teachers of both elementary and secondary levels in Mild/Moderate Disability. Through a program approved by the Mississippi Department of Education, these supplementary endorsement certifications may be added to elementary, secondary or special subject area licenses.
Convenience and Quality - The Endorsement in Special Education program at Blue Mountain College may be completed entirely online, administered by the same vetted, highly respected teachers employed by the school to teach its traditional, campus-based courses. The flexibility of scheduling and time management that accompanies online learning is especially useful in this program, created to suit the busy lives of educators.
Potential - The program is approved by the Mississippi Department of Education, making it an ideal fit for the career enhancement goals of educators in that state. Those from other states may be able to apply this endorsement to their certification as well, and should contact the Office of Teacher Licensure at their state's Department of Education.
Description
Course requirements for successful completion of the Endorsement of Special Education depend upon which specific certificate supplement the student is seeking. The elementary endorsement requires completion of 18 semester hours, the secondary endorsement requires 21, and a K-12 endorsement may be obtained after completion of 27 hours of non-overlapping coursework between elementary and secondary. Of course, all hours are administered online, to suit the student's schedule.
